For those who have not heard, today I board my flight for Haiti (previous post). I will be there for 10 days serving with 15 others in the small fishing village of Montrouis. We will be there supporting the long-term missionaries of New Vision Ministries by coming to them with open hands.
I have mixed emotions. Excited and in shock that this is actually happening. It's hard to believe by this time tomorrow I will be walking off a plane in Port-au-Prince. With all of these emotions, there is one thing that keeps me calm and collected, my confidence in God. I am confident that He will be there and is already doing great things. I am confident that He answers and hears our prayers, so I continue to ask you to pray with me.
Please pray...
Please pray...
- For safe travel in cars and planes and easy airport connections
- For our team to be prepared to serve with open hands - that we will be quick to listen & learn and slow to speak & teach (both with each other and with those in country)
- For sleep on the overnight flight
- For an easy "entry" into Haiti with the customs officers and airport exit
- For our loved ones hear - I think specifically of Carol, Andy, & Miriam who are leaving school-aged kids at home for these 9 days - pray for the time to go quickly for their kids & spouses and that God will be enough.
- For the hearts of those we go to serve
- For our team - for unity, integrity, grace and JOY on the journey
So, with all of these words, I have two more. Thank you.
* More to come. I will definitely be blogging all of my thoughts, pictures, and possibly videos when I return! Stay tuned.
